Horticulture Laborer

Job Description

Monday - Friday; 7 AM - 3:30 PM

Weekly Pay - $12.00 Per Hour

Groundskeeper Duties

· Assist in maintaining state grounds including lawns, flowers, trees, vines, and shrubs. Assist in the cleaning of surface parking, driveways, and walkways. Also will assist in the weed removal of shrub and flower beds.

· Assist in trimming, mowing, blowing, edging, fertilizing, watering and pruning. Also assist in the planting of shrubs, trees, flowers, lawns, etc. This also includes the operation of push or riding mowers, back pack blowers, edgers, string trimmers, etc.

· In the operation of department vehicles or grounds equipment, all safety rules and regulations must be adhered to. The appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times in the operation of grounds equipment. This safety equipment is supplied to each staff member.

· Assist in daily refuse collection and removal. This includes cleaning of grounds, walkways, driveways, parking lots, etc. of trash, leaves, limbs and remove debris from site.

· Apply chemicals for pest control if instructed by the crew leader or supervisor.

· Must possess physical abilities and mobility to perform above tasks. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time and be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

· If warranted by the supervisor, groundskeeper will drive state owned vehicles after proper driver’s training course is taken.

· Perform other duties as required.
