Our client has a 3-month, possibly Temp-to-Permanent assignment that is the perfect opportunity for entry-level workers!

Overview of Staffing Needs

As an essential service, the Mail Services Division in Carson City inserts, sorts, meters and processes tens of thousands of pieces of mail each day. In 2022 the staff has mailed just shy of one million pieces each month and this number is expected to continue throughout the remainder for the year. Delivering reliable, affordable, and trusted mail service to most state agencies in the Carson City, Reno and Las Vegas areas. Our team’s services are vital to state government and keep state agencies moving forward productively. The mail services team needs two temporary employees to:

  • Stuff envelopes, sort and distribute mail
  • Process mail in Carson City Mail Services Division using automated equipment such as barcoders, sorters, UPS manifest system, mail accounting systems and various types of automated mailing scales

Rate

The employee payrate is $14.61.

Essential Job Functions

  • Working conditions are inside. Occasionally must meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The position requires interaction with other workers etc.
  • Regarding stamina: sitting; walking; standing for at least 4 consecutive hours
  • Regarding flexibility: squatting/stooping/kneeling; reaching above the head; reaching forward
  • Regarding use of arms and hands: excellent manual dexterity
    • Example: screwing a lid on a jar
  • Finger and hand dexterity
    • Example: typing, stuffing an envelope or putting a nut on a bolt
  • Regarding lifting: 10 - 50 lbs from the floor to waist, from the waist to shoulder
    • Example: boxes of envelopes or trays of mail
    • Note: loads between 20 - 50 pounds that are lifted or carried can usually be shared or reduced to smaller amounts
  • Regarding pushing/pulling: over 90 pounds, pushing/pulling 76 - 90 pounds, pushing/pulling 51 - 75 pounds, pushing/pulling 25 - 50 pounds
    • Examples of items over 50 pounds that are pushed or pulled are loaded mail cages, however they are on wheels and the terrain is cement.
  • Regarding carrying: Carrying over 51 - 75 / 26 - 50 and 10 - 25 pounds, 25 feet or less
    • Examples are boxes of envelopes and/or trays of mail
  • Regarding vision: must see objects/persons at a distance, for example when looking at a computer screen on a mail machine. See close work and have good depth perception.
  • Regarding sound and speech: hear conversations in a sometimes loud environment, and tell where sound is coming from. Hear differences among sound queues. Must communicate through speech.
