Engineer

Marathon Staffing is looking for reliable, qualified candidates for a Direct Hire, Engineer position available immediately in Lynchburg, VA!!!

This position is primarily responsible for maintenance and support of existing motorized actuators and manual gear actuators. This position has daily interface with the Manufacturing, Sales, Service, Quality Assurance departments and works on a variety of assignments from order engineering to design enhancements.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Process ETO production orders for all product lines

• Perform design modifications to existing components for cost reduction and compliance to specific customer requirements

• Create, revise and maintain assembly bills of material

• Provide technical support to other departments

• Evaluation and testing of new designs

• Analysis and troubleshooting of failed components

• Evaluation of dimensional variances on machined components     

• Creation and maintenance of procedures, forms and technical documentation

• Assist with 3rd party hazardous location certification agency audits and documentation  

• Interface with global engineering partners to support production needs worldwide.  

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

• 2-3 years’ experience minimum.

• Proficiency with machine component selection

• Travel Requirements: Less than 15%

• Must be a US citizen

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

• Great people skills

• Prior experience with nuclear and/or Navy applications is highly desired

• Experience working with electro-mechanical industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment

• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing experience

• Experience in gear design and gear inspection

• Experience specifying materials for various applications (steels, polymers, lubricants, seals, paint, etc.)

• Knowledge of hazardous location agency certifications (FM, CSA, UL, ATEX)

• Experience performing failure analysis of mechanical components

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software

• Experience with component and/or assembly testing and evaluation

• Ability to multi-task, self-starter, establish priorities under guidance of supervisor

• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills (verbal & written)

• Ability to coordinate work efforts with Sales, Service Quality and Manufacturing

• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 1st Shift, hours to be determined.
